The Late Great John Belushi

Paul Newman.... Professional Car Racer

Gonzo

“Like most of the others, I was a seeker, a mover, a malcontent, and at times a stupid hell-raiser. I was never idle long enough to do much thinking, but I felt somehow that my instincts were right. I shared a vagrant optimism that some of us were making real progress, that we had taken an honest road, and that the best of us would inevitably make it over the top. At the same time, I shared a dark suspicion that the life we were leading was a lost cause, that we were all actors, kidding ourselves along on a senseless odyssey. It was the tension between these two poles – a restless idealism on one hand and a sense of impending doom on the other – that kept me going.”

“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Wow! What a Ride!’”

That was always the difference between Muhammad Ali and the rest of us. He came, he saw, and if he didn’t entirely conquer – he came as close as anybody we are likely to see in the lifetime of this doomed generation.

That was always the difference between Muhammad Ali and the rest of us. He came, he saw, and if he didn’t entirely conquer – he came as close as anybody we are likely to see in the lifetime of this doomed generation.

If you’re going to be crazy, you have to get paid for it or else you’re going to be locked up.

America… just a nation of two hundred million used car salesmen with all the money we need to buy guns and no qualms about killing anybody else in the world who tries to make us uncomfortable.

Really ???

Harley Davidson Indian Wars

1933 Indian Four Cylinder

1929 Harley Davidson JDH

1946 Harley Davidson Knucklehead

1946 Indian Chief

I guess this is an old theme, who built the better motorcycle....Harley Davidson or Indian.  The bikes pictured are from the same time periods, the Harley JDH vrs. the Indian Four.  That would be a pretty tough decision but it gets a bit easier when deciding between a 1946 Knucklehead or a 1946 Chief.
The Chief was still a flat head side valve motor with a 3 speed crash box transmission while the Harley Davidson was an OHV engine with a four speed transmission that was much more advanced.  So why is it so hard to decide ?  I have a complete '46 Indian Chief that I am restoring and I just picked up a good start to a '47 Harley Knucklehead.  I can only keep one..........
