Back in the roaring twenties board track racing was a top draw event, thousands of people showed up for the chance to see someone crash and possibly die. The riders were iron tough and the promoters took all the money. These guys had to scrape just to race the next race unless by chance one of the big players in Milwaukee, Chicago or Springfield picked you up...and then it wasn't much better. The tracks were made of wood boards set on edge and laminated together like a glue lam but not nearly as nice. Think about crashing at 100 mph on a board track................not good
