Cannonball Progress

I must apologize for my lack of blogs pertaining to the Cannonball Race.  I completely stripped the Scout down after I got it and sent the motor and frame over to John Bivens for some much needed work.  The frame was in pretty nice shape but I wanted it checked on his frame table.  The engine had a rebuilt bottom end but on closer inspection I wasn't sure so he is going through the engine for me.  If I am going to do this ride I am not going to spend $20K plus and end up stranded with a broken down drive train.  

I am building the wheels but there is not a lot of excitement there.  I will keep you posted on my slow and tedious progress.  This deal is much bigger than a person would imagine.  It would have been nice to start with a finished bike.

Falcon

A thing of beauty.  I have always found hawks and falcons to be the most amazing of animals, the majestic way they carry themselves and the freedom of flight.  A little like moto-cycling.





The Falcon Motorcycle company has been turning out some pretty interesting custom bikes over the last couple of years.  Each model is named for a bird of prey, I believe these two are The Black Falcon and the Kestrel.  There will be 10 bikes built and they will not be replicated.  If you go to their site you will see the incredible attention to detail that went into each machine.  That kind of thing takes time and does not come cheap.

One Little..Two Little.. Three Little Indians......

Indian Moto-Cycles are like an illness that you can not shake.  I guess it goes back to my roots when my Dad bragged about his 42 Chief whenever motorcycles were the subject.

I have owned all these bikes in one state (both figuratively and geographically ) or another, few have gotten finished but hopefully that will change starting with my 101 Scout that I am building for the Cannonball.

If anyone reading these blogs has a finished pre-30 Indian they would be willing to loan me as a back up in case my 101 is not finished it would be much appreciated.  I have references and would do you right.  I really want to do my 101 correctly and it may not be finished by September ?

Vintage Rat Rod Panhead Motorcycle Trailer

The pictures do not capture the cool factor of this trailer. I found it behind an antique store in Upland, it had been there for quite a while.

It is home built from the 1950'S (has 50's Panhead emblems). It still has original rubber and original paint with old pin striping. It has the right look to haul your old Harley, Indian or ???
I rewired it with cloth wire and everything works, I did order two replacement red tail light covers. I have not found an amber cover yet. Wheel bearings were cleaned and re-greased. Check out the folding ramp !

This perfect to haul your original paint Panhead or Knucklehead, I guess you could haul an Indian also.

It had a frame for a box which was missing so I built one for it. I may paint it, not sure yet.
