Quartermile Knucklehead

I found this off the hook Knucklehead drag bike on a Swedish blog called Quartermile Knucklehead.  The amount of work that was put into this bike is incredible...he is running 10.3 in the quarter with a Knucklehead !

 

Now those are what I call dual Carbs !!

S.O.A. Chopper

This is custom bike I purchased from the executive producer of Sons of Anarchy.  The build quality is amazing with some really nice parts from such famous makers as Sugar Bear.  I kind of stumbled onto this deal after I bought some parts from the same guy.  I guess he had a bunch of Knuckleheads and this custom bike while he was involved in the production of SOA and then sold everything after the shoot was done.  pretty nice bike...it's sitting in a museum now along with my Sport Scout.

T.E Lawrence

T.E. Lawrence, aka “Lawrence of Arabia” was a passionate motorcyclist and a devotee of the Brough Superior. Brough Superiors were considered the “Rolls Royce of Motorcycles” and Lawrence had his custom-made; short of stature at 5’5, he ordered his bikes with a smaller back wheel to accommodate his height. Lawrence owned seven Brough Superiors during his lifetime, referring to them as his Boanerges (sons of Thunder), and calling each George (the first was George I, the last George VII). In 1935, while riding George VII and awaiting delivery of George VIII, Lawrence swerved to avoid hitting two boys on bicycles, was thrown over the handlebars, and died a week later from his injuries at age 46. Lawrence loved to ride his bikes fast and hard; he was likely going around 100 mph, the bike’s top speed, at the time of the accident.

This was a very complex individual who actually had a huge impact on World War I and then came back to England and re-enlisted as a private in the RAF to avoid publicity.

Dual Carb Knucklehead

I have always been fascinated with Harley Davidson knuckleheads with two carburetors.  I guess they kind of complicate a simple set up but they do make for more speed if built up correctly.  A lot of the old drag bikes used them as well as a few customs.

Rocket Hammer from Japan

 

Really nice set of dual carb heads residing in my garage.  They are late 30 knucklehead heads with modified intakes setup for three bolt Linkert carbs.  Kind of funny because I believe the three bolt Linkerts were for Indian Moto-Cycles.

Very good 1946 Knucklehead transmission with a 1940 lid and an original Jammer kicker cover.

Cherry little timing cover for a knucklehead.  The above parts are in my garage...nuff said for now.

The nicest little Knucklehead I have seen for a while.  I know it is a single carb set up but I love this bike !   Building a bike to look this good with the correct patina is not as easy as it looks.  I am seeing a lot of patina-ed bikes being built but they don't look period.  Finding correct parts with the "look" is the challenge.  Bikes like this are built to ride which is what I want since I live at the end of a long dirt road in the country !

Myles Foot Boards for the Chief

There isn't much notable progress on the Chief.  I am having a set of 18" wheels built and my front end is also being refurbished.  I sent the front end out because I don't have the reamers, etc. to do it right.

I did pick up a pair of Myles aluminum footboards which I'm not sure I will use or not.  I guess someone is knocking off repops because know I'm seeing them everywhere but not marked Myles.
