$59,200.00 For A 1928 Scout

This is a 1928 short frame, 45" Indian Scout that just sold on E-Bay for the astounding price of $59,200 !!!!  Wow, this kind of answers my question in regards to paint color.

Here is the description provided by the seller....
This is an early 1928 "short frame" scout that was part of Indians rolling changes during the course of their development. It is a unique bike in that it sports the look of the earlier scouts but carries the benefits of the later 101 engine and frame set up. Very few of these bikes exist today. This is perhaps the earliest '28 scout in existence. CG474! (they start with 100)

This bike was exported to Australia in 1928 and lived most of its life in the dry and sunny climate of that country. It was returned to the states in the mid 90's where it sat in storage, owned by a doctor who thought he could put some gas in it, and ride it around! This didn't work out for him, so he sold it to me.

I purchased this complete, worn out and tired bike in late 99 and began the task of bringing it back to its original glory. It was too beat up to leave in its original state. Everything is rebuilt, refinished, and reconditioned to perfection. Walker Machine did the complete engine and transmission overhaul. Buchannin provided the spokes and lacing. Heilmann saddle, Coker tires and the list goes on and on. No detail was left undone. Yes, even the hardware and lines are nickel plated ( as original ). The paint ( 10 years old enamel) shines like the day it was applied. The engine, was test run only ( periodically turned and oiled) and the bike has sat in a climate conditioned space since completion. I have the proper front stand that goes with all export scouts. I just didn't like the way it looked, so I left it off.

Fenders, tank, frame, tool box, etc are original steel. The chain guard, belt guard, and battery box are reproduction. Proper hot magneto ( rebuilt), rebuilt splitdorf generator, and original dash are complete and in place

This bike is for the true collector who wants the best. Its 84 years old and looks like it is brand new. Yes the license plate is original NOS from 1928 and it stays with the bike!!!
