I went to visit my 101 Scout parts today and the frame is almost finished. John had to spend a couple of hours straightening it before he could even get it in the jig on the frame table. It was shaped like a "C" when viewed from front to back.
The bottom tubes were bent upwards from getting bashed from below, I think this bike was an old hill-climb machine. The front down tubes also had a bit of a bend but straightened out OK. Someone had removed the foot board mounts and relocated them so the boards were flat instead of installed at an angle. This was pretty common on hill climbers so your feet would stay on the boards when you were standing.
For a frame that was ready to go it sure needed a lot of work ! Oh well, all these basket cases are the same. Like the saying goes " Never buy a basket case, it will break your heart ". And, your wallet !
I should have the frame and front end in paint here pretty soon and will keep things updated as I go along.
