Like Chief Dan George said in The Outlaw Josey Wales, "you must endeavour to persevere". This Cannonball project is a lot bigger than it looks on the surface.
The main challenge at first seemed to be finding the right bike to ride, which I have done. Now the bike is being restored which is another major financial hurdle, I have done these restorations before so that was no huge surprise. The trick will be having a sound bike to ride in time for next September.
I thought I had a support crew that would drive the truck and carry all the extra parts, gas and oil and all the surplus equipment needed to make a 3800 mile trip on a total loss motorcycle. But maybe not ?
The financial implications just to have a running bike, a support truck stocked with all the extra bits and the finances to support three people for two and a half weeks of cross country fun is huge. Like fellow Cannonballer Jeff Alperin put it, "how to cross the country on $20K "!
If I can get a few sponsors it may be possible, we'll see. Meanwhile I will be flogging along trying to put the whole thing together single handed. By the grace of God it may come together or ????
